Vast Potential of Smaller Towns in India

We continue to be surprised by the demand for various products that our research reveals in the smaller towns in India. These are towns with a population of less than 500,000 and comprise a majority of the urban centres. A substantial proportion of the demand for products such as switches and CFLs is coming from these towns.
Given the lower penetration of mobile telephony in these towns, we believe that the growth in the universe of mobile subscribers will be maintained for a few more years.

  1. Absolutely!
Our recent research on electrical switches shows that 67% of the sales is happening in cities with a population of less than 5,00,000. However the usage of higher value modular switches is lower in these cities.
